It's not Friends or Survivor. It's called Lord Have Mercy and it's getting very positive feedback from The Globe and Mail, My Bindi.com and studio audience viewers alike. Canadian viewers have yet to experience anything like it  a multicultural television sitcom that takes place in a church at the heart of the Caribbean community in Toronto.  

A television sitcom centered on Canada's Caribbean community that started very small has won plaudits, built an audience and picked up two nominations for Gemini Awards, Canada's version of the Emmys. 'Lord Have Mercy' received nods in the categories of Best Individual Performance in a Comedy Program or Series, by veteran Jamaican actress Leonie Forbes, and Best Comedy Program.

The groundbreaking series Lord Have Mercy!, Vision TV's first foray into situation comedy, has received two nominations for the 18th Annual Gemini Awards. In addition, a nomination went to the documentary Carry Me Home: The Story & Music of the Nathaniel Dett Chorale, which was also produced in association with the network. The winners will be announced at the awards gala on Oct. 20.

Sir Derek Jacobi has stepped in to play the artist Francis Bacon in a controversial new film about his life called Love Is The Devil, it was confirmed yesterday. The star of Cadinel an I Claudius is due to begin work next week in London and Paris on the film, which is being produced by BBC Films and the British Film Institute and which is using some National Lottery funding.

A film being made about the artist Fancis Bacon, starring Derek Jacobi, may be halted by the administers of his estate. The film's director says they are claiming ownership not only of his images but also of his spoken words.
